Late to the Party

Hey, look. It's an already outdated reference. :P

To be honest, I've been wanting to draw my interpretation of these characters for a long time. I just felt like waiting until I felt like the FNAF fandom had pretty much died down, at least in my own frame of reference. That's part of the reason I used the title I did. The hype party is over, and some other game series is in the spotlight now.

In terms of the actual creative process, I had a whole lot of fun with it! Early on in the sketching process, I decided that I'd challenge myself to be extra artsy. For each character, I specified a number, and tried to give the shapes on that character a multiple of that many sides. Since I made them mostly symmetrical, I added a little something to bring a bit more life to each of them.

Also, since these characters normally have little to no clothing in their source material, I had to go out of my way to design them some apparel. Freddy's and Bonnie's outfits were pretty straightforward. I just finished the spiffy look that came with their ties. Foxy was pretty easy too. He's a pirate, so I followed that motif. Chica was the hardest because she normally wears a bib, and I didn't really think it would fit with the rest of the outfits very well. Instead, I gave her a sundress and some cowgirl boots in an attempt to maintain a bit of a homey look.

I did my best to pay homage to the game with the background. I tried to make it look faded without being completely rundown. I also tried to match the complementary light/shadow tints with the spotlights.

EDIT: Minor tweaks, changed Freddy's and Chica's eyebrows to match their side count better, improved spotlight effect, spaced the letters on the "CELEBRATE" banner better.
